Apple Watch calculates statistics of training load
Apple Watch calculates statistics: The statistics on training load in the activities app are intended to provide information on how intense the last training sessions were. The progression curve can help you choose the type and duration of training based on the last load. If the value is higher, the risk of injury increases, among other things.
The training load can show whether you should do light or intensive training or even take a break. To determine the training load, the intensity and duration of the workouts over the last seven days are compared with the previous 28 days. This results in a value that ranges from “significantly below” to “significantly above”.
The Apple Watch can set the intensity for certain sports based on pace, altitude, heart rate, and data such as age, height, and weight. Manual adjustment is possible. You can record your own intensity ratings after each non-cardio fitness-based workout.
Every workout with an automatically or manually recorded effort assessment is included in the training load statistics. These can be viewed on the iPhone and Apple Watch in the Fitness app.
*Effort is automatically calculated for the following sports: indoor walking, outdoor walking, indoor running, outdoor running, indoor cycling , outdoor cycling, indoor rowing, outdoor rowing, cross-country skiing,
elliptical, stepper, hiking, HIIT, dancing, kickboxing, pool swimming and open water swimming.
This feature requires iOS 18 and watchOS 11.
