Gmail New app update: It’s almost a running joke that Google’s apps for their own services look better on an iPhone/iPad than on Android. Be that as it may, the new update to the Gmail app addresses the overview. We’ll explain.

Summary cards have a new look for purchases, events, bills and travel emails, with Google adding new action buttons. These action buttons allow Gmail users to do things like add an event to the calendar or set a reminder to pay a bill, making it much easier to see at a glance.

• Purchases : Overview cards display tracking information for purchases and order details.
• Events: Dinner reservations, concert tickets, and more are highlighted, and there are options to add events to the calendar, invite others, and get directions.
• Bills: Overview cards can display bills, with the option to receive a payment reminder or add a due date in Google Tasks.
• Travel: Users can manage reservations, check in for flights, and view important details like hotel check-out times.

According to Google, it has completely redesigned the backend to be able to record and update changed information in real time. The search engine company cites the tracking of packages as an example.

The app update is now available in the App Store and can be downloaded free of charge. If you have a Googlemail address, you should take a look. Apple wants to offer this for Apple Mail as well, but it will probably take until the release of iOS 18.4
