MutePlay prevents incoming notification sounds from disrupting your music playback
While I realize that some people might enjoy being able to hear their incoming notifications over the sound of their Now Playing music, I’m a particular breed of person who absolutely hates it when an incoming notification sound announces itself over my favorite part of a song.
MutePlay
iOS developer uz-ra received a request from a fellow jailbreaker who felt the same way I do, and as a result, a new and free jailbreak tweak called MutePlay was conceived.
In a post shared to /r/jailbreak, uz-ra says that MutePlay prevents your Now Playing music’s volume from being momentarily reduced by the notification sound whenever your device’s mute toggle is turned on.
We should note that incoming notification sounds will still be heard normally whenever Now Playing music is paused, and that the tweak only applies when the media is actually playing. The tweak also allows the user to hear keyboard clicks while typing, along with other kinds of system sounds as normal.
If you’re concerned that you might miss notifications while the tweak is in full effect, then I would simply say, “don’t worry about it.” The people who are using tweaks like this are probably actively using their phone while listening to music, which means they’ll see the banner notifications pop up.
It’s more likely that you could miss a notification while your device is locked, but as soon as you pick it up again, you’ll see the missed notification on your Lock Screen, regardless of hearing the notification sound or not.
If you’re interested in giving the new MutePlay jailbreak tweak a try, then you can download it for free from uz-ra’s personal repository. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 11 through 17 devices and there are no options to configure.
Anyone who isn’t already using uz-ra’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:
